Looking at the current organizations across the globe, we now know that Management is a critical function of any organization. We can have the right products and the right market. But if things are not managed properly, then the business can fail. Accordingly, there are four functions of management critical to any organization.
There are four functions of management; planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. There are numerous plans that you can have for your business, but the most important is your business plan. Your business plan is essentially your roadmap (or GPS system for younger readers). It tells you where you started, where you are going, and what it’s going to look like once you get there.
In today’s corporate world a manager to be affective must be able to incorporate the four functions of management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling) into his or her management techniques. Managers who fail to implement the four functions have a greater chance of being unsuccessful in accomplishing the primary outcome for the project or task. Thus, generating an inferior product.Within every business structure are managers. No matter the type of business, a manager’s job is essentially the same across the board but there are four functions of management to consider regardless of the leadership style. Any organization, whether new or old, whether small or big need to run smoothly and achieve the goals and objectives which it has set forth. There are basically four management concepts that allow any organization to handle the tactical, planned and set decisions. The four basic functions of management are just to have a controlled plan over the preventive measure. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the four functions of management; which are planning, organizing, leading, controlling and how each of these functions relates to my current organization.While there are many other functions to effective management; planning, organizing, directing and controlling are the four main functions of management that should be considered the most important. Learning how to balance each of the four functions simultaneously will lead to effective management.As you can see after defining the four functions of management that they prove to be a vital component for a manager and for the success of his or her team or organization in achieving the goals set forth in a particular project. In my company (NUS Consulting Group), I am an Energy Consultant and each function is important for us as well. Each day in my organization, we generate recommendations in the form of a report detailing how our clients can reduce their overall costs in electricity, gas, water, sewer, and any other commodity they wish my company to audit and analyze.In closing, we know that the chances of success are slim without the use of the four functions of management to guide a manager, team leader, project manager, etc during a specific project. We know understand that we cannot provide a quality product unless we keep an open mind and pay close attention by planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. With that said my use of the functions outlined above, have given me the opportunity to excel in all the projects I have been apart of.
